Even getting the Marker Fragments does not guarantee the secret ending you must take them to the designated area before boarding the shuttle to the planet's surface. Note that this must be done before departing from the Ishimura, or you will miss the opportunity and be unable to access the secret ending. After doing so and completing the game, you will unlock the alternate ending. Approach it and you will be prompted to activate them. Mathius’ quarters can be found, inside of which lies a table with twelve candles. After gathering all twelve Marker Fragments, take them to the Executive Quarter within the Crew Quarters of the Ishimura.
Marker Fragments can be found in the Break Room, the Maintenance Bay Office, the Cargo Bay, the Deluxe Shift Bunks, Inquiry Desks, and the Power Sub Station 03. The larger story is untouched and there were no dramatic edits to the script, but it’s not a line for line. In order to unlock the secret ending of Dead Space Remake, you must obtain all 12 Marker Fragments. Gunnar Wright of the original Dead Space reprised his role as Isaac for the remake.
